Louisiana

We spent the week at Red Shoes RV park beside the Coushatta Casino in Kinder, LA. The park is a great destination for families with playground, outdoor pool, games, lake, golf, casino, lodge, equestrian facilities, and chalets for the camper challenged guests.

The Cajun Nature Trail extends from Lake Charles to the Gulf and back and includes two beautiful wildlife preserves. We were delighted to see many types of birds, turtles, alligators, and a fleet of huge alligator gar fish.

Hurricane damage is still in evidence on the Trail route. Much of the destruction has been cleared, but there remains many empty concrete foundations and pillons that previously held buildings. We noticed one existing Fema-ville and one previous site.

Our travels took us to Lafayette for the International Cajun Festival.

Avery Island, the home of McIlhenney Tabasco Sauce, was another interesting stop.
