This was another enjoyable week, with Monday spent at the seawall and marina along Shoreline Drive in Corpus Christi. Where we discovered a beautiful memorial to Selena, a recreation of Columbus' ship Nina, several great sculptures, and a distant view of the Lexington.
Tuesday evening brought the Schweppe Lecture at UT Marine Science Institute and Dr. Harry Daniels, from NC State on "Southern Flouder: Sex, Lies and Videotape". Did you know that when the flounder is young, the eyes are on each side of its head and in two weeks one eye migrates to join the other on one side?
On Wednesday, my birthday, we drove to Rockport to buy shrimp at a terrific little shop owned by Vietnamese fishermen. Chili's treated us to a free molten chocolate dessert at lunch.
After a senior dinner with friends at Seafood and Spaghetti Works Thursday evening, we all listened to the talk at UT MSI by Dr. John Metz, National Weather Service, of NOAA on "Tracking Hurricanes: How Accurate Can it be?". Sounds like we may be in for another active La Nina hurricane season.
Friday was a beautiful day so we strolled the beach, swam in the RV park's heated pool, and lounged in the hot tub. The beach was strewn with tiny Portuguese Men of War, coconuts, and oddly single shoes.
