To meet Derek, we moved to the much lauded Prince Gallitzin State Park, near Patton, PA. This park is located in yet another gorgeous part of Pennsylvania, there don't seem to be many rural parts that aren't full of trees, hills, river/lakes, and wildlife, all things I miss terribly when away from the state. Maybe I'm biased?
Under the category "It's a small world", one of our Texas friend's ancestors owned the land now occupied by Prince Gallitzin State Park. Some of his ancestors also lived in the Somerset, PA area.
We've been camping fulltime for several months now, in several states and have noticed that campers are friendly folks, who often go out of their way to be helpful. Our years in the south have taught us to smile and speak to folks as we pass by each other, so we found it unusual that the campers in Pennsylvania don't acknowledge our smiles or friendly "hello". Wondering why?
