Roseburg, Oregon

So, on our way north from Grants Pass on I-5 the rear driver's side RV wheel started smoking and wobbling. A tree service guy, following John, noticed it and flagged him off the road. We were a few miles from the Winston exit, so took the Prius to find help. We figured a good campground would have a knowledgeable host, we found Jim at Rising River RV, who introduced us to Sean, a certified RV technician living there. Sean removed the bad wheel and followed as John limped the RV to Rising River on three wheels.

Sean determined that the sealed axle had failed and made a quick call to the axle manufacturer, who sent instructional fax for measuring the wheel offset. We soon learned that the wheel offset did not match the axle requirement, which the 5 year axle warranty was voided. It turned out that DRV installed the wrong wheels on the RV when they manufactured it, so after many emails and phone calls, they sent two new axles and 4 new wheels. Sean installed them yesterday, so we should be back on the road on Tuesday.

While we were here for 6 weeks, we have visited the coast several times, driven along the scenic Umpqua River toward Diamond Lake, investigating water falls along the way. I'll post about these trips shortly.
