Our nesting experience

The time has come to leave Hickory Creek, on Lake Lewisville, and move on to Lake Lavon.

As we assessed our packing needs, John noticed a profusion of leaves and twigs in one of our folding chairs. Closer inspection revealed a wren's nest with a single egg nestled in the folds of the chairback.

Returning from the shower the following day, we saw the wren in the nest and ran inside for a camera but the wren had flown away by the time we returned with it. John peeked into the nest and discovered a second egg. We had to leave soon, with the chair, so consulted local nature "experts" who told us to move the nest without touching it. John carefully lifted the nest with two twigs and placed it in the fork of a small tree and hoped that the wren would find it, not the squirrels.
